Abstract

The research project aims to carry out a systematic study of optical and magneto-optical properties of samples/devices based on two-dimensional heterostructures (2Ds) containing 2Ds magnetic materials. We intend to: (1) prepare samples/devices of van der Waals heterostructures based on emerging magnetic 2D (M2Ds) materials (CrSBr, CrSeBr and CrPS4) and monolayers (ML) of transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs); (2) to investigate magnetic proximity and charge transfer effects on 2Ds heterostructures containing magnetic M2Ds (with emphasis on CrSBr) and ML-TMDs; (3) to investigate the effects of alignment angle between M2Ds, number of magnetic 2D layers, applied electric field, mechanical strain and doping in the control of the optical, magneto-optical and magnetic properties of 2Ds heterostructures for possible applications in opto-spintronics and quantum technologies.
