Abstract

According to the WHO, Chronic Noncommunicable Diseases are responsible for 70% of the causes of death in the world and lifestyle behaviors are determinants of health outcomes, being able to prevent, control and even lead to their remission. Lifestyle factors such as eating habits, physical activity, smoking, alcohol consumption and sleep are subject to modification in the individual's life, however their existence is influenced by social determinants of health, such as sex, age, race/ethnicity and income. Thus, the aim of the research is to evaluate the association between the social determinants and the combined effects of health behaviors in the Brazilian population based on data from the 2019 Brazilian National Health Survey (PNS). Data from the "Lifestyle", "Perception of Health Status", "General Characteristics of Residents" and "Work of Household Residents" blocks will be used. The behavioral variables will be categorized and subjected to Principal Component Factor Analysis (PCA) in order to extract lifestyle patterns. Finally, these patterns will be correlated with social indicators in order to identify the magnitude of social inequalities present in these associations and possible intersections. It is understood that this study advances in the direction of analyzing the combination of lifestyle indicators, since most studies report the prevalence of specific behaviors in the population or analyze their individual impact on health outcomes. Through PCA, it will be possible to evaluate the simultaneity of these behaviors and produce lifestyle patterns, in addition to measuring the social inequalities and intersections present in these combinations.
