Abstract

Introduction: The growth of the elderly population is a result of decreasing fertility rates andincreasing life expectancy. With aging, we can have significant associated risks, such as fallsrelated to intrinsic and extrinsic factors, focusing on high-risk elderly individuals. Objective:Verify potentially modifiable factors for falls in elderly individuals at high risk of falls. Method:This is a systematic review, where the search for articles will be conducted between March andJune of 2025 using the databases Pubmed, Web of Science, Scopus, Cochrane Library, ScienceDirect, and Medline. For the search, elderly individuals at high risk of falls will be considered,according to the World Recommendation for the Prevention and Management of Falls in OlderPeople (MONTERO-ODASSO et al., 2022), relative risk, and falls following the WHOrecommendation, 2021; prospective longitudinal studies with follow-up of falls for at least 1year. The terms used will be: ("older adults" OR "older people" OR elder OR age OR idoso OR"pessoa idosa") AND (fall OR faller OR quedas OR caidor) AND (risk OR influence ORprediction) AND (longitudinal OR prospective OR cohort OR prospectivo OR coorte) NOT(review OR trial or retrospective OR adolescent OR child). A manual search of the reference listsof the selected articles will be performed. The search will be limited to the English, Portuguese,and Spanish languages.
