Abstract

The disappearance of individuals in Brazil is marked by a lack of effective responses, both due to the public sector's deficient performance and the scarcity of statistical data, which restricts authorities' ability to respond adequately. Concerning children and adolescents, the primary cause of disappearances is linked to escapes from institutions responsible for their care. This study aims to analyze the disappearance of children and adolescents in social assistance shelters in Seville, Spain, through an empirical, on-site investigation of institutions that work with these youth, alongside a bibliographic review of the protocols adopted by the Spanish government. Additionally, the study will examine the relationship between disappearance and human trafficking in this context, given the vulnerability of the children and adolescents involved. Ultimately, this research aspires to provide a comparative analysis between the Spanish government's response and that of the municipality of Campinas, with the objective of developing response models for Brazil in cases of this nature.
