Abstract

This project will investigate the correlations of light scattered by one-dimensional disordered systems, where the motion of the scatterers generates temporal fluctuations in the scattered field. Inspired by cold atom platforms, with the aim of obtaining a signature of the localization regime in the light fluctuations, the candidate will simulate one-dimensional chains of moving particles, and the scattered light in them. By studying the temporal correlations of both the electric field and the intensity, we will verify whether the statistics of light can be used as a witness of Anderson localization.
