Abstract

3Y-TZP zirconia is a ceramic material used to manufacture the infrastructure of crowns and bridges, inlays, abutments, implants and complete dentures. This material has different types of sintering cycles to obtain it, slow and fast sintering. Zirconia can be obtained through machining using the CAD/CAM system and also through 3D printing. These methods differ in relation to energy consumption, working time, cost and final dimensions of the restoration. 3D printing still needs better parameters so that the mechanical properties of zirconia are more predictable, and so the application of glass is found as an alternative to increase the resistance of printed restorations. Although very opportune, the use of glass in printed zirconia and its effects are scarce in the literature. The objective of this work will therefore be to compare the flexural strength of machined zirconia and printed zirconia considering the types of sintering cycle (slow and fast) and the application of glass to the surface. 80 3Y-TZP zirconia bars (25mm x 4mm) will be analyzed, divided into 8 groups: milled with slow/fast sintering, with/without glass (ULV, UL, URV, UR)) and printed with slow/fast sintering, with/ without glass (ILV, IL, IRV, IR). After glass infiltration, the samples will undergo a 4-point bending test and undergo fractographic analysis using a stereomicroscope and scanning electron microscope (SEM). The microstructure of the specimens will be analyzed using an x-ray diffractometer (XRD), Raman spectroscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). Statistical analysis will be performed using a three-way ANOVA test with Tukey's post-hoc test (p<0.05).
