Abstract

Radiation-matter interaction is one of the most powerful tools for studying diverse properties of materials, with photoionization being the most fundamental sub-processes in this context. The theoretical and experimental characterization of photoionization cross sections in atomic and molecular samples is extensive and long-standing. However, the interest of the Atomic and Molecular Physics community in processes resulting from fundamental interactions is experiencing an auspicious moment, given that the advent of facilities such as fourth-generation synchrotrons have made possible experiments with unprecedented resolutions. The present IC project aims to study the quantum theory behind the radiation-matter interaction and the development of tools for calculating photoionization cross sections of atomic species.
