Abstract

The real estate dynamics within capitalist space production assume new frontiers of expansion, giving rise to large real estate developments that materialize and symbolize characteristics of the relationships between real estate, finance, and cities. The main objective of this project is to identify large real estate developments in Brazil to investigate new fronts of expansion and operation in the real estate sector, with an emphasis on shopping centers and logistics ventures. We assume that these large developments represent interconnections between different levels of restructuring: productive restructuring, real estate restructuring, and urban restructuring. Therefore, the research's guiding thread lies in the relationship between urban land and finance, as well as in the circulation of developments through financial mechanisms such as real estate investment trusts. Methodologically, we will rely on research in property registry offices and the development of a database on key financial agents related to the circulation of shopping centers and logistics ventures. It is important to emphasize that the project's interests align with the challenges of the "Observatório Nacional de de monitoramento e avaliação de dinâmicas imobiliárias e fundiárias" (CNPq process: 420166/2022-0).
