Abstract

The objective of this MSc project is to assess the vibrational surface finishing technique applied to L-PBF additively manufactured Ti6Al4V parts. Aspects such as quality of the finished surface, mechanical properties of the finished part, and thereof the correlation between surface quality and mechanical properties shall be assessed. An important research question posed has to do with the range of the surface finish achieved for complex parts and whether it is acceptable over hardly accessible (or inaccessible) regions of the part. For instance, a surface roughness value, Ra, in between 1.0 - 5.0 micrometer is achieved, or are values in between 5.0 - 8.0 micrometer more realistic? (AU)
