Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic endocrine disease characterized by insulin resistance in target tissues and pancreatic dysfunction, where there is also the establishment of glyco-oxidative stress, marked by the generation of reactive species that lead to the progression of tissue damage. Type 2 DM is correlated with obesity, where exacerbated and harmful inflammatory responses are common. In the search for new therapies, techniques based on the inhibition of enzymes that participate in glucose metabolism are excellent alternatives for prospecting bioactives. Thus, this project aims to evaluate the performance of the hydroethanolic extract of Cissus verticillata leaves, its major compounds and metformin in an in vitro model of modulation of neutrophil activity, which mimics intense inflammatory response conditions, and in an in vitro model of inhibition of the enzymes ¿-amylase and ¿-glucosidase (AU)
