Abstract

Nonequilibrium behavior is most times specific and lacks the universality present in the equilibrium behavior. For instance, the quasistatic manipulation of an intensive thermodynamic quantity always follows the same equation of state regardless of the way we choose to vary it in time, whereas finite-time manipulation often leads to protocol-dependent relations between thermodynamic variables. However, nonequilibrium universality has been claimed for some thermodynamic quantities as efficiency at maximum power, Landauer's bound for finite-time information erasure and the excess work dependence with the process duration in regimes close to the quasistatic one. In thisproject, we want to focus on this last case and investigate the minimum requirements for it. We also want to study other quantifiers of entropy production besides the excess work and whether or not they show any universal dependence with the process duration.
