ANALYSIS OF BOND STRENGTH TO DENTIN OF CEMENTING AGENTS WITH DIFFERENT PHOTOCURYING PROTOCOLS

Abstract

Adhesive cementation is a fundamental step for the success of indirect restorations, and dual-cure resin cements are widely employed due to their effective polymerization, even in deeper regions. Nevertheless, the use of preheated resin composites has gained attention, as heating the material reduces its viscosity and polymerization shrinkage. Therefore, the aim of this study is to compare the bond strength of a preheated resin composite (Viscalor Universal) and a dual-cure resin cement (Bifix QM), both used as luting agents, under two distinct light-curing protocols (3×10 s at 1000 mW/cm² and 3×3 s at 3000 mW/cm²). Forty bovine incisors will be used, with the buccal dentin exposed and flattened for the cementation of standardized indirect restorations (6 mm × 2 mm). After cementation, the specimens will be sectioned into sticks with approximately 1 mm² of bonding area and subjected to microtensile bond strength testing. Fracture patterns will be analyzed and classified under a stereomicroscope. Descriptive statistics will be performed using mean and standard deviation, and inferential statistics will be conducted using two-way repeated-measures ANOVA. If significant differences are found (p < 0.05), Tukey's post hoc test will be applied. In case of non-normal data distribution, a non-parametric test will be used.
