Abstract

The oscillatory behavior of CO oxidation is a collective phenomenon occurring throughout the entire catalytic bed. Spatially resolved techniques can provide statistically relevant insights essential for a comprehensive understanding of its origin and dynamics. The new facility implemented by Dr. Briois's group at the ROCK beamline of the Soleil Synchrotron is dedicated to full-field hyperspectral XAS imaging. This facility enables precise monitoring of dynamic transformations in catalysts, offering detailed information across the catalytic bed while maintaining a good balance between time and spatial resolution. The objective of this BEPE project is to develop an operando spatio-temporally resolved full-field hyperspectral XAS imaging study of CO oscillations on model catalysts composed of morphology-controlled Pd nanoparticles. Aligned with Dr. Briois's expertise in XAS imaging, this study aims to explore the underlying mechanisms of these oscillations. This innovative approach could provide valuable insights into how nanoparticle shape, size and support influence the dynamic transformations driving high and low reactivity during CO oxidation oscillations, potentially guiding future advancements in catalytic performance.
