Abstract

Introduction: Tuberculosis is a socially determined disease of global relevance. Vulnerable social groups, such as homeless people and those living with HIV/AIDS, are at greater risk of developing tuberculosis when compared to the general population. In this scenario, understanding the patterns of tuberculosis/HIV co-infection in this population becomes essential to support specific care strategies. Objective: To analyze the factors associated with the unfavorable outcome of tuberculosis treatment in homeless people with tuberculosis/HIV co-infection in the city of São Paulo, between 2015 and 2024. Material and methods: This is a retrospective cohort study to be developed with secondary data regarding notifications of cases of tuberculosis/HIV co-infection in homeless people in the city of São Paulo. The information will be obtained from the Tuberculosis Notifiable Diseases Information System, and will be made public and anonymized. Cases reported in adults from 2015 to 2024 will be included. Data analysis will include descriptive statistics and survival analysis. Expected results: The mean survival time until an unfavorable treatment outcome occurs is expected to be estimated and risk factors associated with this outcome identified. The results aim to contribute to the understanding of the tuberculosis/HIV co-infection scenario in the city of São Paulo.
