Abstract

The construction of virtual environments for the emulation and detection of DDoS attacks enables controlled analysis of the impacts of this malicious activity, avoiding harm to people and to the services offered in network environments. In this scenario, the tools Docker and Kubernetes stand out, as they enable experiments involving attacks through the emulation of networks in virtual environments, fully segregated from the network environments used by individuals and companies. The execution of activities carried out in the context of the MENTORED project depends on the knowledge and use of these tools, as they directly contribute to the evaluation of the quality of existing detection and prediction mechanisms, in addition to reducing the costs of acquiring and deploying equipment. This scientific initiation project aims to analyze how the use of DDoS attack emulation tools affects the process of evaluating the quality of the DDoS attack prediction and detection mechanisms developed in the MENTORED project.
