Abstract

Introduction: In Brazil, there is no data showing the general dimension of the PI problem, but a review of incidence studies carried out between 2004 and 2010, based on databases indexed in the Virtual Health Library (VHL), found that PI Most research was carried out in the state of São Paulo, mainly in Intensive Care Units (ICU), which obtained rates between 31% and 62.5%, while the overall incidence in hospitals, when including medical, surgical and orthopedic clinics , in the same state, varied between 13.3% and 39.8%. Cancer patients have an increased risk of developing pressure injuries. This is probably due to factors associated with the disease or treatment that cause reduced mobility and/or predispose to skin damage, such as asthenia, weight loss, malnutrition, immunosuppression and reduced wound healing capacity. Additionally, certain oncology treatments, such as radiotherapy and chemotherapy, can also cause damage to the skin. Objective: To analyze the profile and clinical outcomes of cancer patients with LPP undergoing hospital stays. Methods: This is a retrospective cross-sectional study in which patients who meet the inclusion criteria will participate: aged 18 years or older, diagnosed with active cancer or undergoing treatment in the last 6 months, hospital admission for cancer treatment or complications clinical and/or surgical, being a carrier of LP. Exclusion criteria are: Patients undergoing palliative and/or end-of-life care. Data collection will be carried out from the medical records of hospitalized patients who presented with pressure injuries during the year 2023. The data will be stored in the RedCap® system for descriptive and clinical statistical analyses.
