Abstract

The c-axis geothermobarometry is an effective and low-cost technique that allows for the reliable characterization of the pressure and temperature conditions under which rocks were deformed.In the literature, there is a lack of temperature and pressure estimates for the metamorphism of rocks from the Anápolis-Itauçu Complex in the Americano do Brasil region. In this area, in addition to the metamorphic core rocks of the Southern Brasília Orogen, there are gneissic granites, possibly associated with partial melting of the Anápolis-Itauçu granulites.This initial scientific project aims to determine the pressure and temperature conditions through c-axis quartz geothermometry in the granulites of the Anápolis-Itauçu Complex and in the granites associated with their partial melting in the Americano do Brasil region, Goiás State.
