Abstract

To investigate how masculinities are represented in publications by Psychology professionals on the Instagram social network, a qualitative study will be developed, involving thematic analysis of ten publications produced and shared by different psychologists. This constitutes a subset of a broader project on gender in professional disclosure practices in Psychology on digital platforms. The aim is to identify whether normative patterns, generalizing and/or biologizing explanations about masculinity, and the transmission of models and prescriptions according to prevailing expectations are present, as well as to examine whether there are publications that express Psychology's commitment to valuing differences, confronting violence, promoting rights, and recognizing the multiplicity of human expressions, including masculinities. Among the contributions, it is expected to expand understanding of the importance of Psychology professionals addressing gender issues from a perspective that considers social, cultural, and historical factors, combating machismo, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, and other forms of prejudice, discrimination, violence, and inequality, in addition to identifying possibilities for disseminating knowledge and practices in Psychology that are scientifically grounded and ethically careful.
