Abstract

This research is part of an entitled ampler work "Thermal comfort in open public spaces: application of a methodology in cities of the São Paulo interior", with financing FAPESP (process 2007/00563-4), that it aims to analyze qualifying aspects of open public spaces, as microclimates and the thermal comfort of users, in different cities of the São Paulo interior. For this, studies of cases in opened public spaces in the cities of Campinas, Bauru and Presidente Prudente will be developed on the basis of the methodology developed for RUROS project (Rediscovering the Urban Realm and Open Spaces), adapted for climatic and cultural reality of São Paulo. Monitoring microclimatic conditions (air temperature, globe temperature, relative air humidity, air speed, solar radiation) and interviewing the users, the limits of real thermal comfort will be evaluated and correlated with calculated thermal comfort, through predicted indices of comfort in external spaces, in order to identify differences between the conditions of objective and subjective comfort. In President Prudente, three important opened public spaces will be analyzed: Praça Nove de Julho, Parque do Povo and Calçadão da Nicolau Maffei. In this work, the object will be the Parque do Povo that have in some places critical conditions of thermal comfort. (AU)
