Abstract

This project considers the development of two metaheuristics algorithms and one specialized non-linear programming algorithm to solve the transmission systems expansion planning using the AC model. It will be implemented: 1) a specialized evolutionary algorithm; 2) a tabu-search based algorithm; 3) an efficient algorithm to solve the non-linear optimal power flow problem, that will represent the module used by the metaheuristics. In this one-year initial project, we intend to do the static planning of power systems, considering a regulated structure and without security constraints. Other kinds of planning, such as multistage planning, the planning considering the operation of the power system in competitive market and the planning considering security constraints, will be developed in future projects or done by other researchers from this research group. Then, the most important contribution of this project is to show that the AC model is perfectly useful to be used in transmission systems expansion planning. (AU)
