Abstract

Children born pre-term with risk indicators for hearing loss should be monitored in auditory development. Recent studies have reported the association of auditory processing disorder associated with school and behavior disadvantage in this population. The audiological evaluation by objective methods of assessment, highlighting the auditory evoked potential and suppression of otoacoustic emissions, and behavioral tests of auditory temporal resolution can be used as an index of development of the auditory system, the perception of speech and auditory discrimination, as well as markers of performance following auditory training program. The objective of this work is verify the occurrence of possible changes in latency, amplitude and morphology in the records of the auditory evoked potentials of medium and long latency and the magnitude of suppression of otoacoustic emissions and performance tests of auditory temporal resolution in children from 8 to 14 years with gestational age below 34 weeks and risk indicators for hearing at birth after the formal program of auditory training (Musiek, Schochat, 1999). It will be completed three stages of research: initial assessment, formal auditory training and reassessment after 3 months.
