Abstract

In this research project the engineering of interactions in cavity quantum electrodynamics will be investigated, which can be applied in process of quantum information theory. The system to be investigated consists of atoms, in a specific level configuration, interacting with one or two cavity modes of the electromagnetic field trapped inside a high quality cavity. To generate the desired interactions, classical fields with frequency and intensity adjusted conveniently will be considered. It will be investigated interactions which can be used in quantum state protection, in particular those needed for the generation of a squeezed reservoir, useful for preserving the coherence of a superposition of coherent states.
