Abstract

The main subject of this proposal is to investigate the relationship between metamorphism, melting and deformation of rocks of the Andrelândia Sequence, in the region of Três Pontas, MG. Rocks of Varginha-Três Pontas and Carmo da Cachoeira nappes, the last of at the bottom of rock pile, are the ones to be investigated. Filed work, petrography, thermobarometry and in situ dating of monazite with Electron Microprobe are the steps to be followed. Field work will be done in March and July, 2010, for collecting structural data, samples and characterization of units. Some samples and mineral chemistry data are already available, but more mineral chemistry data will be collected, which in association with monazite dating will allow the establishment of P-T-t paths of study samples and the relationship between metamorphism, melting and deformation.
