Abstract

This project aims to start the searcher in the critical reading of Portuguese-Brazilian literary and theatrical writer Antônio José da Silva, the Jewish (1705-1739), providing her grants to a first approach of OBRAS DO DIABINHO DA MÃO FURADA, a narrative (probably from 1700's) with a controversial authorship, that however has been attributed to the "Jewish" by many experts. The proposal is to lead the searcher to a survey of themes and forms that, applicants in the narrative, are also always in the plays of the author (as in their most popular comic operas, as in his play EL PRODIGIO DE AMARANTE, authorship recently proven). This reading comparing the theatrical production and the "evil" narrative form intends only, for now, to provide some subsidies to the problem of authorship of OBRAS DO DIABINHO DA MÃO FURADA, a narrative that has - and that's what matters more to us for now - evident literary qualities, indeed consensually recognized.
