Abstract

This plan of study aims the development of a solution algorithm for the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations in 2-D or 3-D configurations. The algorithm employs the primitive variable formulation, explicit time-wise integration , the Finite Volume approach with the UNIFAES scheme for the advective and viscous terms, and semi-staggered meshes for variable positioning. It will be programmed in two versions, one for a unique processor and the other for parallel processing, the first to give greater portability, the second to allow the attack to higher Reynolds numbers, more refined mesh problemsThe algorithm will be tested in the simulation of flows in the laminar, transitional and turbulent regimes, for geometrical and physical configurations about which the scientific literature accumulates enough experimental information: flow around a backward facing step and the flow around a cylinder.
