Abstract The Alzheimer's Disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disease characterized by progressive decline in memory associated with a deficit of other cognitive functions, which interfere in social and professional performance of the individual. The study presents longitudinal design with the purpose to analyze and correlate the effects of exercise with weights on the functional aspects and performance of basic and instrumental daily living activities of AD patients. The sample consists in 30 patients with AD divided into two groups: a) Training Group (TG) consisted of 15 patients with AD who will participate in a program of systematic physical activity with weights three times a week, lasting 60 minutes each session in alternated days for 4 months, keeping his conduct routine drug and b) Social Interaction Group (RG) consisted of 15 patients with AD who should keep his drug and routine conduct, but not participate in any physical activity program. The participants should do pre and post training evaluations using questionnaires and motor tests. The data will be processed by descriptive procedures, checking its distribution by the Shapiro Wilk. For normal data will be used t Student test and Pearson correlation. For non-normal data will be held U Mann Whitney test and Spearman correlation coefficient, assuming a significance level of 5% for all analysis. | |
