Abstract

Taking into account the belief that the economic situation influences the manner on which children play and consequently on his/her cognitive development, this research has as an objective to analyze the difference between toys, games and ludic activities of children from different economic classes. The data collected will be based on a survey retrieved from the restructured study of Biasoli- Alves and Graminha (1979), on which includes questions of child play and children’s social contact. The survey will be applied to fifty mothers of children with age of three to six years, being twenty-five of these belonging to the economic class A, and twenty- five to the economic class D, according to Criteria Brazil. The data will be analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively by the following categories related to child’s play: the role of infancy in a social- historical context, the act of playing and their attributes and the obstacles of child’s play.
