Abstract

This study was developed to give support to a scholarship and makes part of a FAPESP's grant number 2006/06034-0. It has as goal to evaluate agreement between information about consumption of illicit drug (marijuana) obtained by means of a questionnaire half-structured, and of data of toxicologic urine assay in a prison population in the city of São Vicente. The use of illicit drugs in this population is a frequently found problem, and its prevalence can be improperly measure, once the studies majority data on the subject are obtained by questionnaires. These studies showed an use prevalence smaller estimate of drugs when compared with the laboratory tests. The studies in prison populations are very scarce, was not identified, however, no national study that boarded this subject. Thus, we propose the accomplishment of transversal study. A questionnaire will be applied by a graduates team, previously trained, in a sample of 350 prisoners in a prison in the city of São Vicente. Simultaneously, it will be collected urine samples for a toxicological test. The results will be stored in a database, for further data consistency and analysis. The statistical analyses comprehend in a description of the studied group, with sensibility and specificity analysis for the questionnaire, for the mentioned drug. This analysis will be performed by the statistics program Stata 8.0.
