Abstract

In this project we aim to investigate the recrystallization of low carbon steel (ABNT 1012) deformed by a single pass of equal channel angular extrusion. After deformation (von Mises equivalent strain of 0,67) the material will be annealed (under vacuum) in several temperatures up to 800oC. The microstructural characterization will be performed via Vickers microhardness and optical (OM) and scanning electron (SEM) microscopies. We aim to define the temperature related to the beginning of recrystallization and, in addition, which are the most effective sites for the nucleation of new grains (shear bands or near the cementite particles).
