Abstract

Global warming is a phenomenum that concerns a lot scientists and environmental intituitions all over th world. From Kyoto Protocol approval is obligation for the Anex I parts to reduce its GEE emissions and/or buy emission credits, known as certificates that authorize polution. This study is aimed to estimate the Carbon storage potential of the "ipes" trees in the People Park at Pres. Prudente- SP, Brazil. The importance of this project relies on the theme actuality and relevance, discussing intervention alternatives in the human space in order to control the atmospheric polution. From the biomass estimate of this trees species and from its convertion into carbon, it is proposed to estimate the importance of this study area relative to climate adversities attenuation and possibly, carbon sequestration, which carbon would return to the atmosphere if this vegetation were absent.
