This project aims the study of the Sun-Eath-Climate relationships through matemathical analysis applied to geophysical and tree ring series. The goal of this study is to better undestand the interactions beteween solar and geomagnetic activity, El Niño and surface climate in the past and how it affects human environmental. The matemathical analysis used up in this study are: regression interative and multiple taper methods, to find the more important amplitude signals; wavelets analysis to look for non-steady features in the time series; and Principal Component analysis, to investigate the relationship between geophysics process and their influence on the Earths climate. This study will analyse several databases such as: surface temperature, rainfall, cloud cover, QBO, ENSO and geomagnetic activity indices. Through tree rings series, we can investigate the presence of geophysical signals in the past and try to understand their long term variations. In special we will study data from Brazil and south american region, which still have few studies conducted. This wok will be developed at the Geophysical Space Divison, on GEONAT laboratory, with supervision head Dr. Daniel Jean Roger Nordemann.
