Abstract

The data about the stress reduction in the dental support of an removable partial denture supported distally by implant are inconclusive once the simplifying hypothesis adopted in finite element analysis disable the clasp system influence and the rotation fulcrum in the support tooth. By this way, the purpose of this present study is to evaluate, by finite element analysis, in a non-linear study, the clasp system influence in the stress distribution and displacement tendency on the support tooth, considering its fulcrum axis by contact element established between teeth and metallic structure. MATERIAL AND METHOD: 5 models (M) will be elaborated in the AutoCAD 2006 program: MA hemiarch containing the natural tooth 33 and edentulous space for distal; MB – similar to MB, with an conventional removable partial denture replacing the absent teeth, but no clasp system and nor contact element are present; MBi similar to MB, with the clasp system (Roach, I) and contact element between niche and metallic structure present in the tooth 33; MC similar to MB, with an osseointegrated implant to support acrylic base in a posterior region; MCi similar to MC, with the clasp system (Roach, “I”) and contact element between niche and metallic structure present in the tooth 33. The numerical analysis will be performed by ANSYS 10.0, with all models in a stress plane. The loading (50N) will be performed in each cusp simultaneously. The results will be analyzed by general and specific maps related to stress distribution and displacement tendency. (AU)
