Homophobia, subjectivation processes and identities constructions in the city of Assis

Abstract

The goal of this research is to establish cartographies of the processes of subjectivation and of the constructions of gay identities that make head against homophobic processes in the city of Assis. We understand homophobia as the existence of aversion, rejection, repulses irrational and systematic hostility in relation to homosexuality (masculine and/or feminine) that is expressed in several manners (verbal, discursive and physically). In that study we pointed out the importance of thinking about this social fact in a perspective based on Gender and Cultural Studies, reflecting upon gender relationships as a form of updating micropolitics and microphysics forces and powers that institute manners of existence subjectivities and construction of identities. To draw that cartography of gay desires in Assis we will work with stories of lives of four gay men with more than thirty years that have lived in Assis for about at least ten years. The stories of these homosexuals might help us to understand how these subjects made themselves built their sexualities and lives in relation to homophobia. That is how do those subjects regulate their conducts in relation to homophobia? How are those subjects capable (or not) in producing desterritoryalizations towards singularization processes seeking to escape homophobia?
