Abstract

Historically, nurses have been working in hospital clinical practice, and there have been changes in the Unified Health Care System (SUS) concerning the configuration of health-care demands by the population, which calls for the implementation of nursing clinical practices at the level of basic health care as well. The extended clinic represents a tool in order for health work processes to focus on service that is centered around users, thus promoting practices that deal with the disease, the person, the context and the collectivity. The study aims to review the scientific production on nursing clinical practice in basic health care and to identify the elements that constitute the work process, i.e., what is taken as the object of the work of nurses in clinical practice in basic health care, which resources are deployed to implement it, which results are obtained and what goals are pursued. The theoretical grounding includes health work process and its technologies (MENDES GONÇALVES, 1994; ALMEIDA, 1991, MERHY, 2002), and the expanded clinic (CAMPOS, 2006). The methodology will be a bibliographic review of the scientific literature in the most important databases in the area between 2005 and 2008. The study is justifiable because it aims to promote basic health care and nursing clinical practice in collective health.
