Abstract

This project has as subject the relations - cultural, politics, symbolic - between missionaries and aboriginals. To develop this subject we will specifically approach the mission developed for the Missionaries of the Consolata in Roraima, correlating it other missions lead for this congregation, particularly to those situated ones in the Kenya and Moçambique. When approaching this subject interest-in them to understand the paper of the quarrels that permeated the missions of the Institute of the Consolata for Foreign Missions in the African continent in the conformation of a new model of missionary in Roraima. Said in another way, it interests to understand the influence of the African component - concerning quarrels to the decolonization, ethnic affirmation, performance of African missionaries or that they had passed for Africa - in the construction of a type of specific representation on the Indians of Roraima that made possible the constitution of a configuration of the relations between missionaries and Indians.
