Abstract

In our research group, at the Institute of Chemistry, State University of Campinas-UNICAMP (SP, Brazil), we have been investigating solar energy conversion using semiconducting oxides (TiO2 , Fe-doped TiO2, ZnO, WO3 and titanates) for water disinfection by photocatalytic degradation of organic pollutants and for application in dye-sensitized solar cells. Motivated to study new applications for these semiconductor electrodes, and considering the research interests of Prof. Jin Z. Zhang, University of California, Santa Cruz, this proposal consists in investigate electron transfer processes of Pt or Ag-modified TiO2 and Fe:TiO2 thin film electrodes for photoelectrochemical hydrogen evolution and water remediation.
