Abstract

The discussion about health system models has progressed and developed after the several reforms that have been going on in several countries since the 1990's, including Brazil and Canada. This study aims to analyze and compare the experiences of Brazilian and Canadian Hospitals in the implementation of the Participative Management, regarding the processes of decision-making, communication and power. The comparative study design was chosen due to the similarities of the management of Brazilian and Canadian Health Systems, especially in the state of São Paulo and in the province of Alberta. This is an exploratory and descriptive study, with qualitative approach of data that will be carried out in a public hospital in Ribeirão Preto - SP, Brazil and in two public hospitals in Edmonton, province of Alberta, Canada. Among the several techniques proposed for data analysis, Bardin's thematic analysis was chosen. (AU)
