Abstract

In this dissertation, we investigate Merleau Ponty\'s idea of Nature as autoproductivity. In the first chapter we address the reasons for the relevance of such a question, analyzing the roots of what Merleau Ponty calls \'ontological diplopia\'. In the second chapter, we turn to the issue of the method, or that of how is such an investigatation possible, if Nature must be that which is opposed to thought. In the third chapter, finally, we seek to present the merleupontian ideia of Nature as ground, which is not only incomparable to the human activity but, insofar as it harbours a kind of activity of its own, also produces natural things.
