Abstract

This work aim's to analyze three plays of the Brazilian playwright Carlos Alberto Soffredini using Antônio de Alcântara Machado¿s modern and nationalist ideas, in order to observe how the research with popular culture sources allowed Soffredini to create, formal and thematically, a modern drama with great importance to the Brazilian theater scene, testifying as prolific Machado¿s enunciation that the Brazilian theater would rise from the use of nacional themes (AU)
