Abstract

Blindness pathology is characterized by a visual field until to ten degrees, it covers only the perception of light until total absence. It can be classified as congenital, since birth or acquired, resulting from some impairment during life. In this sense, loss of vision affects directly the relationship of individuals with the places yours inhabit, especially because vision is not a simple stimulus of light, but a selective and creative process in relation to the environment. It is one of the meanings that provide us with meanings, and loss directly affects how we know and build reality. This people with blindness find their own way of conceiving geographical space. This dissertation aims to highlight these aspects following a model specific to the authors of the interpretation of reality, it brings a scientific writing closer to romantic literature, which contributes for the work to gain a sensitive dimension of the reality of blind subjects. Thus, each chapter contains analyzes of the different dimensions that life is contained in: history and places (Life in Space-time), the routine (Life in everyday life), the exploration of the senses to understand the city (Life as complexity) and the ways of survival in an unequal society (Life as resistance). In order to carry out all of these areas that make up the research, we delved into the studies of qualitative research using different methodological procedures, combined with the construction of spatial figures.
