Abstract

Inflammatory immune reactions in response to periodontopathogens are thought to protect the host against infection, but they may trigger periodontal destruction. Our data suggests that TNF-alpha and IFN-gamma drive enhanced bone resorption where as protect the host from A. actinomycetemcomitans infections. Our results also suggests that IL-10 contributed to attenuate the tissue destruction and does not compromise the control of infection and n addition, IL-4 contributes both to the control of infection and to attenuate disease severity...
