Earned a bachelor's degree in Agronomy from the University of São Paulo (1983), a Master's degree in Agricultural Microbiology from the University of São Paulo (1987) and a PhD degree in Biological Sciences from The University of Texas at Austin (1993). From August 2013 to July 2014 had an appointment as Visiting Scientist at the Department of Environmental Sciences of the University of California - Riverside. Since 2010 is a Professor of Soil Microbiology at the ?Luiz de Queiroz? College of Agriculture of the University of São Paulo. Retired from the University of São Paulo in 2018. From 2003-2005 and 2012-2013 was Vice-Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Agricultural Microbiology from the University of São Paulo and from 2005-2012 was Coordinator of the same Graduate Program. Frm September 2018 to March 2019 was a Visiting Porfessor at the Center of Agricultural Sciences from the Federal University of Paraíba. Has experience in Agronomy, with emphasis on Soil Microbiology and Biochemistry (microbial ecology and arbuscular mycorrhiza). (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
