Mario VIDEIRA is Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in the Faculty of Music at the University of São Paulo. He received a B.A. in Music (2001) and Philosophy (2008) from University of São Paulo (USP); an M.A. in Musicology at the São Paulo State University (UNESP) in 2004; a Ph.D. in Philosophy from University of São Paulo in 2009 and a Habilitation in Music Aesthetics (2019) from University of São Paulo. He spent the academic year 2007-2008 studying under the renowned Prof. Manfred Frank at Tübingen Universität on a DAAD/CNPq graduate study grant. His writings include a book on Eduard Hanslick (2006), as well as several articles on music and aesthetics of the Nineteenth Century. He was editor of the Revista Música (2012-2017). His research interests include the relationship between music and philosophy, the role of music in the German literary tradition and performance practices.
