Full Professor of the Department of History at the University of São Paulo (USP); CNPq Productivity Fellow since 2004 (1D researcher). Graduated in History from the Universidade Federal Fluminense - UFF (1989), master in Contemporary History from UFF (1994) and PhD in Social History from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro - UFRJ (2000). He worked as a Visiting Researcher at the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Lisbon between March and August 2007 and between February and August 2017. He was a professor at the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ) between 1994 and 2010, when he transferred, by public competition, for USP.
