Dr.Carlos Alberto Pérez is currently a researcher at the Carnaúba group of the LNLS and responsible for managing the instrumental activities of the TARUMÃ endstation of Carnaúba beamline at LNLS-Sirius. He got his Ph.D. in Physics at the University of Córdoba, Argentina, and joined the LNLS team for managing the XRF Fluorescence beamline of the LNLS-UVX. His main fields of expertise are atomic and molecular physics and synchrotron radiation with emphasis on X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) analysis, X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy (XAS), and X-Ray Imaging. Interests are in the use of x-ray micro and nanoscopic methods such as micro-XRF, XRF microtomography, and micro-XAS focusing on applications in agro-environmental, biomedicine, and material science. Current research involves trace elements studies in biological and plant tissues, biogeochemistry of environmentally important trace elements, environmental toxicology, and nanotoxicology.
