Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP). Campus de Araraquara. Instituto de Química (IQ)  (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Colômbia

Ph.D. in Sciences from the School of Engineering of Lorena (EEL/USP) with a concentration in Applied Microbiology (2013), Masters in Chemical Engineering (2008), and Bachelors in Chemical Engineering (2005) from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Manizales campus. During the Ph.D., she was a FAPESP fellow (Grant No. 2011/01226-7). Currently, she is an Assistant Professor (MS-3.2) in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the Institute of Chemistry, Unesp Araraquara (SP). Her academic and research trajectory is distinguished by the development of innovative and sustainable solutions for the chemical and biotechnological industries. She has extensive expertise in industrial and biotechnological processes, focusing on the valorization of lignocellulosic biomass and the production of biofuels, such as second-generation ethanol and biodiesel. Her work also encompasses the development of high-value-added bioproducts, including furfural, levulinic acid, oligosaccharides, bio-lipids, xylitol, and lactic acid. She leads strategic research projects involving yeast and enzyme immobilization, the synthesis of magnetic nanostructures, reaction-extraction processes, and biomass thermal treatments for biochar productionapplied to both CO#8322; capture and the removal of toxic compounds from hydrolysates. She also works on process modeling and simulation, assessing their technical, economic, and environmental feasibility. She has expertise in specialized software such as AspenTech-Optimizing Process Manufacturing, SuperPro Designer, SimaPro, AutoCAD 2D/3D, and AutoCAD Plant 3D. Additionally, she actively participates in extension projects, promoting sustainability and the circular economy. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
