Alessandra is interested in potential treatments for various musculoskeletal disorders, including knee OA, sports injuries and diabetic polyneuropathy. Current, she is interested in biomechanical factors that contribute to running related injury, and injury-prevention strategies that can be applied in a physical therapy setting. Her work includes implementation, reliability and repeatability of multi-segment foot model. Her PhD project is a randomized controlled trial to investigate the effects of intrinsic muscles strengthening to reduce injuries associated with running. Alessandra was a researcher Fellow at Movement Analysis Laboratory, Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute - Bologna, Italy and at Spaulding National Running Center, Harvard Medical School Cambridge, USA.
