She holds a degree in Biological Sciences at the University of São Paulo (1982), a Master's degree in Immunology at the University of São Paulo (1986) and a PhD in Sciences (Biology of the Pathogen-Host Relationship) at the University of São Paulo (1992). She did postdoctoral work at the Pasteur Institute in Paris. She obtained the title of "Livre Docência" in 2009 and was approved for the position of Full Professor at the Department of Immunology at the University of São Paulo in 2023. She coordinated the Post-Graduate Program in Immunology at Institute of Biomedical Sciences of University of São Paulo (2006-2011). She was General Secretary (2004-2005) and Vice-President (2016-2017) of the Brazilian Society of Immunology (SBI). She supervised 11 master's theses and 16 doctoral theses, which received the Honorable Mention of the USP Thesis Highlight Award (2015), Honorable Mention of the Capes Thesis Award (2016 and 2021) and Honorable Mention of Thereza Kipnis Award from SBI (2021). She supervised 17 postdoctoral fellows. She is a reviewer of publications in journals of high scientific quality. She has experience in the field of Immunology, with an emphasis on Cellular Immunology, working mainly on the following topics: immunology of malaria, Chagas disease and tuberculosis. She has published more than 90 articles in scientific journals and participated in a patent registration, with important contributions to the field of infectious disease immunology.
