Marcos David Ferreira has a degree in Agronomy from University of São Paulo (1986), Master's degree in postharvest physiology from University of Florida (1994), PhD in Plant Engineering from the University of São Paulo (1999) and postdoctoral degree from Texas A & M University 2000). Researcher at Embrapa Instrumentation, São Carlos, SP, in the field of post-harvest vegetable and fruit technology, with emphasis on research for preservation and loss reduction, based on instrumentation applied for harvesting - mobile platforms, sorting and classification, nanotechnology applied in polymer packaging and edible coatings and nondestructive analyzes using infrared spectroscopy and magnetic resonance imaging. Professor accredited in the postgraduate program in food and nutrition of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences of UNESP, Campus Araraquara, SP and at the Federal University of São Carlos / UFSCAR. Coordinator of the post-harvest technology course - site: poscolheita.cnpdia.embrapa.br held at Embrapa Instrumentation since 2011. Among the received awards are: Good practice in combating food loss and waste, post-harvest category, Ministry of the Environment, 2018; Honorable Mention - Péter Murányi Award - 2016 - Reduction of Food Losses in the Fruits and Vegetables Sector; Best of the Earth 2007 Award, Gerdau Group, Research and Development Category; as a supervisor of the 1st Place in the Young Scientist Award, XX Youth Scientist Award 2004 - Food Production - Hunger Solutions Search - undergraduate student category.
