He graduated in Physics from the Federal University of Bahia (1995), received a master's and doctorate in Physics Applied to Medicine and Biology from the University of São Paulo (1997 and 2001), did a post-doctorate at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo (2002), was a visiting researcher at the University of Wisconsin, in Madison-WI, (2004), and at the Mayo Clinic Foundation, in Rochester, MN, (2006) in the United States. He was technical director (2010-2013) and president director (2013-2020) of the Ribeirão Preto Advanced Health Center Foundation (FIPASE), managing institution of SUPERA Innovation and Technology Park of Ribeirão Preto. He is currently Full Professor at the University of São Paulo, coordinator of the Medical Instrumentation and Ultrasound Innovation Group (GIIMUS) and president of the Brazilian Society of Biomedical Engineering (SBEB). His research focuses on the development of new products and processes using nanotechnology involving ultrasonic, magnetic and optical techniques to support diagnosis and clinical therapy. In teaching, he has been dedicated to the area of technology applied to health and the dissemination of entrepreneurship in the academic environment. As university extension activities, it has been dedicated to the development of innovation environments, integrating academia with industry, government and society. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
